In today's global social background, higher education is faced with the important task of cultivating students' comprehensive quality and cross-cultural communication ability. In this context, the general courses of literature in colleges and universities play a key role, aiming at cultivating students' understanding and appreciation of literature, as well as their cognition and respect for different cultures. Traditional literature teaching methods have some limitations in meeting this task, ignoring the importance of regional cultural factors. This paper discusses the importance and benefits of the integration of literature general courses and regional cultural factors in colleges and universities. To achieve this integration, it is suggested to introduce regional literary works, explore the historical background and social environment of regional culture, cooperate with local communities and cultural organizations, and use multimedia and interactive resources to enhance the learning experience. It is important to cultivate students' comprehensive literacy and cultural awareness, and it is necessary to further study this field and continuously develop innovative teaching methods in the future.
